Dear Martin and others interested:

Well said and welcome viewpoint. TRUTH is all important; not blind trust.

Agreed we are not in 1800s or 1900s. We are in 2000. Things have changed.

Whether there should be compensation or not should be decided in a very
open manner and all the members kept fully informed of the compensation
matters so the members would be aware of what is going on.

I would personally like to see a six figure salary and all the other fringe
benefits normally provided by top companies be provided to the National
President and down to the Presidents of Branches when it could be afforded.
May be such an effort may rejuvenate theosophy compared the present condition.

Since we are in 2000, we are dealing with the general openness and full
disclosure.

Just let us look at what is happening at the national level. President
Clinton's tax returns are not cloaked in secrecy. It is released each year.
Even the top politicians have to release their personal tax returns. The
health conditions of national leaders, to a great extent, is disclosed. TSA
can follow the trend.

I would welcome all the officers of the TSA releasing their tax returns so
all the membership can be kept informed.

In addition there should be full disclosure of any familial or business
relationships between the officers themselves as well as any between the
officers (present and recently replaced) and the top paid (present and
recently terminated) employees at the Wheaton which would bring out any
conflict of interest issues.

Also if any top officials or officers gets charged in any criminal action,
they should be publicized since such information is not private. More
disclosure can only increase credibility. TRUTH will finally triumph.

Just an idea.

>Dear Ramadoss, Dallas, and other members, if interested,

My opinion in this matter is very simple. And since neither you nor anyone has
the whole TRUTH it is important to hear the voices of others.
So here is mine:

I agree with you that things have changed. But on compensation and salaries it
is a good thing.
As I don't see you leaving all to work for free at headquarters, and I don't
see myself doing it, I would like too see qualified individuals getting paid
to do what they love: Theosophy. This world is very different from the old
1800's and even most part of 1900's.
Do you see HP Blavatsky today without health care, when cancer treatment,
care for a heart attack is totally unaffordable?
Of course not. That is only one of the many reasons I can come up with, but I
hope you'll see the reasonableness of providing for workers' basic needs.

My point is, compensate more, let's have the best at headquarters. Basic
salaries/compensation DOES NOT minimize THEOSOPHY.
