Dear dear MKR,
I am an ordinary member of the Theosophical Society...just as you are...
But I have common sense -- or if you choose uncommon sense -- that impels me to ask the question about the questionable way in which Linda Oliveira was elected VP of the TS based on printed and published facts...
One does not need to be a lawyer or member of the GC in order to be able to read the Theosophist. One does not need to be a lawyer or member of the GC in order to be able to read the published and accepted Minutes of the GC meeting held on 25 December 2008.
One just needs to be a literate, aware, educated and intelligent member of the TS who can, as They would have said, "put two and two together once that one has received a little inkling of a whole truth".
I do hope you fit the bill above.
Fraternally

I wish some of the GC members/General Secretaries decide to participate in
the discussions here and enlighten all of us. On matters like this, they are
the ones who have access to the records and thus can provide definitive
information.
In issues like this, I wish there are lawyers who know the law can give
their professional findings under their own name and take responsibility for
their opinions.
If the issue is considered very important, some of the General Secretaries
can hire a lawyer using the TS funds. Any amount of discussion by non
lawyers on legal issues do not carry any weight, whether they are scholars,
politicians, professors, occultists, elders etc.
Why this has not happened so far, seem to indicate that the issue is
unimportant since what took place is perfectly legal. This approach will
also provide some lively hood for lawyers. Sections such as the US section
has a lot of experience in litigation and use of big time lawyers spending a
lot of TS money, not anyone's personal funds!!!
