In the cremation grounds, the Aghoris pick up barbicued human flesh and eat
them. This is going on for centuries.

Another interesting fact about the going ons at Varanasi is the easy and
legal availability of mind altering herbs; both consumed and smoked. There
are Government approved shops selling them. Aghoris tend to smoke mariwana
and use other herbs which affect the mind. You do not hear much about this
aspect of the life in Varanasi.

By the way, the Indian Section is headquartered in Varanasi and I have not
heard of any theosophist talk about the drug culture of the city. The TV
documentary was a mind opener for me.
