Hello Iain,
I see the US as the spoiled child of Europe. It is a great nation but it has been given too much responsibility without any sacrifice. I remember reading many years ago that as their is individual karma, there is also country karma, and it does appear that the U.S. needs to learn humility. Other countries must learn other things such as tolerance, integration, etc. One can almost see the characteristics of a country in their countrymen. Those countries that are learning their particular karmic lesson, willingly, appear to be better prepared for whatever Karma they have accumulated. I wonder what the Brits and the Aussies have to learn (besides Cricket!!????) I think the Aussies are poor losers, although we are not afraid of hard work and perseverance to achieve our goals.
Cheers
Cass
I f the USA learns anything from this tragic disaster it has to be
humility and come to terms that they do have many weaknesses. The
arogant complacency that they are untouchable is just an illusion that has been
swept away for ever.I can forsee a future disaster happening,I am not physcic or possess any special powers I see what has happened in the past and will happen in the future, I only hope that they have got their act together before it does.
cheers Iain

I think the problem with the USA is that they have wanted to build
up the image of invincibility and might. As you have said Pearl Harbour was
a disaster, but intelegence given to FDR by British Intelegence and
Churchill knew that the attack was on the cards thats why the aircraft
carrriers were out of the base at the time,it wasnt co-incidence. What was
left was sacrificial and it worked, FDR had no option but to declare
war, which he wanted to do months before.
The Twin Towers similarly, no one could have predicted this ( however
I remember a Richard Burton film in the 1970's predicting an airliner flying
into a skyscraper) but the American idea is to build bigger than anyone
else in the world, as you know of the Oz philosophy of life TALL POPPIES
soon get chopped! The Cold war was largely the invention of the American Mind
set,"Commies infiltrating every fabric of their society"So much time,
effort, funding was squandered on armaments build up.
The US military may be the best equipped and one of the largest,
unfortunatly the quality falls short. The amount of times on joint exercises
and competitions that the RAF RN and Army detatchments leave them far
behind. When put together in field operations it is chaos.Conspiricy
theories I reject, covering up of incompatences and ineptitude I would whole
heartedly agree with.
We in the UK have an excellent Emergency Planning set up. It is
because we have the attitude of acknowleging that disasters can and will
happen. So you get people to think out "What happens if?..... and from there
you build up senarios, models and set aside equipment, and train your
personell to deal with these possible occurences. I think in Oz your system
is similar to ours. So that when a disaster strikes, your full time Services
swing into action Police ,Fire Ambulance, Doctors(Field) Hospital EPs all
staff report .Military resourses activated, Voluntary Aid Agencies
Assemble.THEN EVERY BODY GETS ON WITH IT untill the job is done or EP tells
you to stand down.
In the US the size of the disaster is huge it covers more territory than the
whole of the United Kingdom, however, the difference is that the vast
majority of people would have been dealt with within certain time limits
certainly with in 3 days, longer for isolated areas. but what we are seeing
that people in major conurbations still on roof tops a week after the
storm.(picture the scene casualties huddled together, endevouring to keep
their morale high singing Carol King songs such as "Up on the Roof" !!!)
I f the USA learns anything from this tragic disaster it has to be
humility and come to terms that they do have many weaknesses. The arogant

cheers Iain
