Thanks for your comments. In the Harvard Semitic Monographs # 24 titled
"The Assembly Of The Gods" there is reference to "Baal." this Monograph is
devoted to the Pantheon of the Caananite-Phoenician Culture that was present
before the arrival of Moses and the People that were accompanying with him. "El"
is the Diety of their Pantheon and he, in this work has two "Sons," Baal the
Good, and Yamm, who was not so good. Baal had no Temple or place to lay his
head.
I don't know if this Monograph is available online, I have the hardback of
it. I though it was interesting in light of the character given to Baal the
Golden Calf (possibly reflecting from the earlier Pantheon).
