Thanks for your response Tony... Rather than set this up as screening or
elitism....what we would do if the TS ever agreed to it, would be to say
these are standards or goals of behavior... not expecting all to be able to
achieve this at once... thus given time... these other behaviours such as
meat eating, smoking, alcohol dring etc. would wither... I think you would
acknowledge that vegetarianism is a larger movement than theosophy and I
believe so today is the practice of Yoga...
Are you aware of the number of yoga centres out there?... far more people
are involved today in these areas, which ought to be very good for us as
theosophists! People who practice Yoga are much more receptive to
theosophic ideas than otherwise... thus we have new potential friends or at
leastr allies... some have called my approach too calculated, but I am only
trying to offer some suggestions here at a very low point in our history as
a movement! Believe me, once people are practising Yoga the diet will
change soon... The experiment with new social forms is already occuring on
a modest scale, once again all we need do is offer this as an option to
people, no coercion involved. - Art Gregory
