  When we are at the receiving end of pain, then only it becomes real and
  personal. Watching death and destruction from a distance has the disconnect.
  The other factor that seems to play an important part is that most are so
  self centered they do not think of others.

  One thing we can do is to treat every one with kindness and consideration
  and try to bring joy everywhere we go. Personally speaking, I try to say a
  few words to every one I meet, such as when I go shopping.
