Misleading secrecy has given the death blow to numerous organizations.  -
Mahatma KH to Annie Besant

In the Summer 2011 issue of Quest - Journal of the Theosophical Society in
America, for the first time, the very last letter received from Mahatma KH
in 1900 has been printed.

This is the first  time, the full letter is printed in an official
publication of the TS, even though a highly redacted version was published
by C Jinarajadasa in 1919. The Quest issue also has four articles about
Mahatmas.

One of the key sentences in the letter is about transparency. Mahatma KH
warned Besant - âmisleading secrecy has given the death blow to numerous
organizations.â Obviously, either the Mahatma saw misleading secrecy in the
operation of TS and or foresaw misleading secrecy in TS.

TS is the baby of the two Adepts. Leaders of TS, due to misguided ideas may
be unknowingly following the path of serious trouble to TS and so the Adept
saw it necessary to warn Besant. For whatever reason, this was kept secret
from the members of TS (of course the inner circle knew the full contents of
the letter) and no attention was paid to it. Misleading secrecy in the
operation of TS continued as seen by the lip service paid to transparency.

I wish, there was an article in the Quest about this issue. It is a very
sensitive issue and wonder if it would ever be openly addressed and anyone
writing about it may have to pay a heavy price.
