Dear friends
My views are:

My view is a bit different.
I would like to say that, no matter how wellmeant they were, pseudo advaita teachings like the ones J. Krishnamurti often promoted - just as often rejects and eagerly emphasise the excercise of omitting -any thought of comparative studying and the idea of relating such teachings to past teachings - the most wellknown teachers of the past included. Secterian behaviour is secterian, even if some persons seek to rewrite this fact. Some might call this greatness, I tend to call it something else. But these are just my views. Masters, Chelas and even the average humans are not always crutches. A human being can learn from anything and anything can be an obstacle to wisdom - or - an obstacle to learning how to avoid Mind Control ( ie. coersive techniques) - even J. Krishnamurti. Even J. Krishnamurti can be seen as a crutch.
The Constitution of the Theosophical Society in 1891 said among other things:
"The Theosophical Society is absolutely unsectarian, and no assent to any formula of belief, faith or creed shall be required as a qualification of membership; but every applicant and member must lie in sympathy with the effort to create the nucleus of an Universal Brotherhood of Humanity. "
........
"No Fellow, Officer, or Council of the Theosophical Society, or of any Section or Branch thereof, shall promulgate or maintain any doctrinas being that advanced, or advocated by the Society. "
(The Theosophist, Januar 1891)

One of the three objects of The Theosophical Society was "to reconcile all religions, sects and nations under a common system of ethics, based on eternal verities."
(See the Key to Theosophy p. 3 and The Theosophist 1879, Vol. I, no. 1)
"Theosophy is the exact science of psychology" - and not the exact science on Messiah-emotionalism.
(The Theosophist 1879, Vol. I, no. 1)
However, the above are just my views, and I mught err.

Why only this individual or that? Every great Advaita master including Ramana Maharshi has pointed to the pitfalls of meditation though it may have some use in the initial stage in curbing the loss of energy due to promiscuous thinking. One is encouraged soon to enquire 'who is the meditator?' rather than be stuck to some practice for a lifetime. It is here that one can see Krishnamuri's greatness in going directly to the central issue rather than dilly dally around. Unfortunately the many imposters and pseudo masters cannot accept their loss of importance that is inevitable when people start to directly address the issue. Hence their name calling of such teachings as pseudo advaita, not suitable for all and so on. We can only offer them our sympathies for their ingenious gimmicks at self preservation and move on.
