Thanks for your thoughts on this sensetive matter.
I was not aware of last years election. Could you please calrify who this lady was and if she is still the international president?
If it is true what you speak of regarding the attempted disenfranchising of members by the higher echlons of power within the TS this would be grave cause for concern.
Do you know the people behind this action? Have they been held accountable and if not why not?
My only assumptions on this matter is that in any organisation you have those that work for the ethos and goals of the organisation and those that directly or indirectly try to stir the melting pot for reactions and attention.
This could well be the case although in some instances if a decision is made in the higher ranks to overthrow a member or group of members there is sometimes a valid reason. Not to say the reason is correct or incorrect but without that knowledge all else is like you say specualtion. So the fact of the matter is that we must work toward a positibe conclusion and appraoach someone we can trust in delivering this information to us. if this has been truely tried and still there has been total inaction then a move to oust those members must be considered.
Regarding the members in India of which to this point i have been unaware, perhaps establishing a more positive routh of communication should be discussed. ultimatly the TS has goals and aim they are trying to achive and this can only be done by pulling everyone together and working towards these goals anyone who isnt for this should be questioned and their intentions and motives should be brought to light.
Is there not a head person that these matters could be brought the attention of?

There are many well known long time members who read what goes on here. If
anyone needs uptodate reliable information on any TS matter, this list is
the place to go to. This is a very well known fact.

I do not know if you followed the various developments (you can read all of
the details in the archives of this list) since the beginning of the last
year's election of International President and an attempt was made to defeat
her and the techniques and tactics used did not make those involved come out
smelling like a rose. Readers know how they smell.

In addition, the ultra secret attempt to seize control of the presidency by
disenfranchising all members and make the president appointable by the
General Council members was discovered and members (even those long time
workers at International and National Headquarters) found out about it here.

But for this list, the group in GC would have succeeded in defeating the
sitting president and TS president would have become a puppet in the hands
of a group of GC members. It is the good luck of the members and TS, that
this plan was discovered in time before the irreversible damage.

TS is still not out of the woods. The proponents have neither withdrawn the
plan nor have they apologized for their mistake in trying to make an end run
and disenfranchise members all over the world. Members don't easily forget
such unbelievable acts.

In the past, many like Giordano Bruno and Hypatia have given their lives.
Today's Theosophical lecturers have been lecturing in a scholarly way
talking about Truth, Fearlessness, and Brotherhood etc., but all of them who
have been witnessing what went on, have been sitting silent on the
sidelines. One wonders why no one has come out and call the spade a spade.

Anyone observing all these, would be confused because they see the
disconnect between the talk and the walk. All this, in my opinion, has hurt
the cause and unless quick action is taken, it will be a long time before
the damage is fixed. As you probably know, already the membership
statistics outside India is in a sorry state of affairs and none of the
leaders outside India seems to be concerned about it since no one talks
about it. One wonders why? Your speculation is as good as any one else's.
