There are many well known long time members who read what goes on here. If
anyone needs uptodate reliable information on any TS matter, this list is
the place to go to. This is a very well known fact.

I do not know if you followed the various developments (you can read all of
the details in the archives of this list) since the beginning of the last
year's election of International President and an attempt was made to defeat
her and the techniques and tactics used did not make those involved come out
smelling like a rose. Readers know how they smell.

In addition, the ultra secret attempt to seize control of the presidency by
disenfranchising all members and make the president appointable by the
General Council members was discovered and members (even those long time
workers at International and National Headquarters) found out about it here.

But for this list, the group in GC would have succeeded in defeating the
sitting president and TS president would have become a puppet in the hands
of a group of GC members. It is the good luck of the members and TS, that
this plan was discovered in time before the irreversible damage.

TS is still not out of the woods. The proponents have neither withdrawn the
plan nor have they apologized for their mistake in trying to make an end run
and disenfranchise members all over the world. Members don't easily forget
such unbelievable acts.

In the past, many like Giordano Bruno and Hypatia have given their lives.
Today's Theosophical lecturers have been lecturing in a scholarly way
talking about Truth, Fearlessness, and Brotherhood etc., but all of them who
have been witnessing what went on, have been sitting silent on the
sidelines. One wonders why no one has come out and call the spade a spade.

Anyone observing all these, would be confused because they see the
disconnect between the talk and the walk. All this, in my opinion, has hurt
the cause and unless quick action is taken, it will be a long time before
the damage is fixed. As  you probably know, already the membership
statistics outside India is in a sorry state of affairs and none of the
leaders outside India seems to be concerned about it since no one talks
about it. One wonders why? Your speculation is as good as any one else's.
