Theos-World Re: Blog taken offline?

Oct 06, 2008 09:50 AM
by Anton Rozman

Dear friends,

I would like to futher elucidate a little the situation with
the "Theosophy Forward" blog from my perspective.

In first days of July it came to my notice (on theos_trans group
which is dedicated to the translation of theosophical texts in Non-
English languages) that John Algeo is sharing his views in regard to
past Elections with some of his friends. As I was interested to
publish these letters I contacted John and ask him for the permission
to publish them on my site. He said that he would agree under two
conditions: that letters would be available only to TS members and
that they can not be copied. As these conditions were reasonable to
me and as I hoped that in that way some basic communication between
leaders and members can be established, I created restricted TS
Members Area, encrypted the files and publish them.

Only few days ago, on October 2, I realized that there was
created "Theosophy Forward" blog where these letters were now freely
available to the public. I contacted John and proposed that I remove
the restriction to the TS Members Area and make links to the relative
letters present on the blog. He replied that he wasn't sure that blog
is already online, but agreed with my proposal.

Yesterday, on October 5, I received John's message that blog was
taken offline because of some problems and that I can republish the
documents as I find suitable.

My explanation of the situation is that after the publication of
these letters on my site the idea to create a blog dedicated to the
presentation of their views was born in John's informal circle and
that steps were made to create it. I assume that the administrator
put the blog online (probably he couldn't do otherwise as when a blog
is created it is automatically online if some hosted service is used)
and inserted mentioned letters using the dates when they were
actually created. I assume further that all the conditions (probably
similar as in the case of my web site) under which the documents will
be presented on the blog were not determined yet and that therefore
there was some frustration present with the fact that blog is already
online. I think that these misunderstandings unfortunately lead to
the decision to remove the blog from the net.

Warmest regards,
Anton
