I don't know about the rest of the world but in Russia the membership
was not encouraged. I think, if all people who once expressed their
with to join were accepted at once, we could have now 100 or even 200
members. And it is a lower esteem, as 5000 copies of a theosophical
book are being sold within a year. The books which are specific and
not popular (like "Man: fragments of forgotten history" are sold in
1500 copies per 4 years). It seems to be faster than world sales of
TPH, where one can buy books printed 20 years ago (I did this at least
three times).
I don't mean that we should preach theosophy (there are different
opinions on this) but speak about the people who are already
acquainted with theosophy and could become the members if the
appropriate condidions were provided for them.
