The problem with transparency is the fear of losing control over flow of
information to the members. It is not a question of 21st century man or a
woman. It is the mind set. There is the assumption that keeping things
unnecessarily secret provides a false sense of security. If you are inwardly
secure, there is not need to feel secure by keeping things secret. This non
transparency seems to pervade up and down all the levels of administration.
If things continue as they are, apart from controlling money and property,
Internet is going to make the organization a non issue because those
interested can come together informally without the interference of the
organizational politics. We will have to see.
