Hi All,

One way of thinking indicates that life is full of initiations. Birth
is an initiation, a transition from one state of being to another.
Marriage is an initiation, making the ultimate declaration of unity,
joining one life with another for all time to create a new being.

Our lives, prosaic and materialistic as they sometimes seem to be,
are still contoured by the ancient rhythms of nature. We are
constantly evolving and our evolution is one of consciousness. We are
what we think, in a very real way. Ancient cultures acted out
initiations in culturally accepted and familiar ways. Certainly the
coming of age initiation, such as Bar Mitsvah, is a good example of
the continuum of recognition of the stages of development of an
individual through one life time, which mirror the stages of
development throughout the journey on the Path.

While most of us do not belong to a society which marks our spiritual
development with cermonial initiations, we can discover in ourselves
the significance of the stages of life, and celebrate them in our own
way. We do that when we throw a big party for someone's 21st
birthday. 21 is thrice 7, a very potent number in occultism, and our
celebration may be more meaningful than we realize.

As students of occultism we have the opportunity to discover and
celebrate the mystery of life in any way we can, recognizing the
"above" in the "below,"and our efforts can help to re-ensoul our own
sadly depleted civilization and prepare our brothers and sisters for
developments looming on the horizon.

                       > I am very curious and would like to read
the works that state, who has what initiations. All we know is that
Jesus (if he truly existed) came to change the jewish religion of "an
eye for an eye" to the new religion, "turn the other cheek". Although
here I believe Jesus was referring to accepting karma.
