May I? 


1) It was in HPB's heart (sixth principle) that her actual relationship with the Masters was established and working.    She said 'somewhere' (I have the reference) that her Master DID BUILT her sixth principle.  This was most certainly an exaggeration made  out of devotion and gratefulness. Yet her Master  did help her sixth principle to 'awaken', no doubt --  since this is the role played by true gurus.   

2) So for her, as for any initiate disciple, there is a fundamental and essential  identity between hearing one's own heart and hearing one's own Guru. These were two distinct voices for her, of course;  but the two did "sound in her heart". 

3) If one cannot find one's Guru inside his own conscience, one cannot find a true Guru. Long before finding the Guru, though, one has to be able to hear one's own inner conscience and FOLLOW its small silent voice's advices-- and this will widen one's Antahkarana. Esoteric tradition is all about it.


4) Therefore, any 'spiritual authority' is always basicaly 'within one's heart'. And nothing can be done against one's own heart.
