Carlos,
Perhaps we could say that autonomous behavior could include deciding
to follow one's heart and trust to the Law that governs all things,
knowing that what comes is what is meant to come and what one does
with it is according to one's ability and devotion.
Yet the problem of "trusting Those Who Know" is that, precisely
because they KNOW, they cannot and want not to prevent us from
learning by ourselves!

Either we believe (know) there is a Lodge of Masters who participate
in the evolution of humanity or we do not. If we do not, fine. If we
do, why not include Them in our consideration of our reality and our
responsibilities? It is not up to the student to make the rules for
others. It may indeed be the student's responsibility to decide for
himself what to do and how, but he is not responsible to decide such
things for others.
It seems at least possible that following the teachings of all the
great Masters in the history of humanity anent right behavior
(thoughts words and deeds) would help rather than hurt. What else are
we here for?
