Yes, and the rest of the world is watching Chuck, take away the technology and what do we see, mismanagement, disorganization, pride, prejudice and politics.

We could now start to see the beginning of the economic collapse of the U.S. Can Bush maintain Irak and rebuild 3 american states? He rejects worldwide offers of assistance but will take cash. Where are his loyalties?

As theosophists we know that these souls chose this way to leave the planet; their deaths and suffering have certainly placed the spotlight on American humanitarianism. This disaster could have been prevented by ensuring the funds were appropriated into reinforcing the levees, so its cause lies at the feet of congress and all the president's men.

I applaud the bravery and courage of these souls that have endured or passed on in their long journey. I hope the rest of us learn something from it.

Chuck wrote I think given the general lack of preparedness and sheer blundering, yes.
Lots of things were being done, but they were all being done wrong. There was
no communication between agencies, and no concept of how to distribute
resources.

I am sure on this particular occasion they had five days to pre-plan. If, as you say, there was no communication between agencies, than this reeks of incompetency on the part of those who established these agencies and the mismanagement of those holding the reins. The excuse of a lack of communication can be expected in Indonesia where infighting was taking place, but in America? Seven days have already been wasted on trying to patch up the levees while people are drowning in their attics. As the mayor of New Orleans said there could be thousands and thousands of decaying corpses waiting to be rescued.
