Erica,

So many of those monsters too are described as hybrids
in the myths.

I agree with you about clones having souls. Afterall,
twins have identical DNA do they not? But everyone
knows that they don't share a soul between them, so
why would a clone be without one?

Still, that isn't a life I would wish upon anyone, or
anything, but that could just be my own conservative
biases.
