Re: Theos-World Use of initials in Theosophical discussion

I'm afraid such an argument does not find much sympathy with me. I can't think of a single profession, craft, science, philosophy or religion that has not developed a jargon and acronyms. Learning such a special language is part of one's initiation into that area of knowledge. What I think would turn off a potential member is silly or demeaning replies to honest questions newbys will ask such as "what is HPB?' or "What is a Monad?" You do make a good point, however. Being mindful of our audience is always a good idea.

It has also been something that has turned off potential members.

It is a convenience, and for me, frankly, a force of habit. It appears to me that specialized lines of thought have a way of developing their own acronyms and jargon over time. For the benefit of newbys, perhaps Eldon can arrange some kind of permanent post of the initials and their meanings: AB, CWL, GdP, HPB, TS, TSA, ULT etc.
