One possibility is that the person doesn't even know that he was using
your address.
I'm getting bounce messages for addresses on my domain that don't even
exist (like "dave@driverexam.org" and other non-existent addresses).
Some spammers and virus authors are programming their system to make up
random addresses at random domains.
You can still follow the other advice you've been given, but in the long
run, just delete what you get and don't worry too much. They'll move on
to somebody else soon.
