Hello Dee,
One of the books that many students have found helpful as an
introduction to the study of HPB's works is "Foundations of Esoteric
Philosophy", compiled by Ianthe H. Hoskins. You can find it online
here:

Ianthe, who was an earnest student of HPB's writings, put together in
this book passages from "The Secret Doctrine" and "Isis Unveilled"
which apparently HPB herself considered important to the
understanding of the teaching she was trying to present.
Ianthe was a former General Secretary of the TS in England and passed
away on the eve of September 11, 2001. In her personality she
combined an ability for an in-depth study of Theosophy with a
delightful sense of humour.
Wishing you all the best in your studies and look forward to your
participation in theos-talk.
