Dear Raghu:

RE: Ego & principles / codes of conduct, for satisfying the
same.

I read what you sent and may I ask some questions?

1

As to the "devil," Who or where does it say there is one? According to
the Robert Crosbie Church history it they who concocted this, and is not
a fact in nature. But do you have some earlier sources? {Shaitan,
Sheitan, Shamael, Satan, Schemesch, Abraxas, Typhon, Python, etc...)If
one desires to discover what THEOSOPHY teaches about these, we could
refer to:
[ see S D I 73, 193, 324-5, 388-9, 577-8; II 60, 125, 233-5, 243,
283, 377-87, 476-7,
ISIS II 184, 206-7, 216, 572,
HPB The FALL OF IDEALS (HPB Articles I 137; III 272)

2

Where do "Principles and codes of conduct" originate? Are they about
the same for all people? If so why?

How are virtues to be distinguished from vices?

Are vices permissible? Why?

Why are dishonesty, pretense, and hypocrisy acknowledged and practised?
Who benefits? Why are they despised by most peoples in their codes of
behaviour?

3

What is "identity?" A façade or a "real inner self ?" Which is
respected?

Of what use is "respect?" Is it due to pretense, or to wealth, or
wisdom?

4

If old age leads inevitably to death then why do we have to pretend to
be something we are not, at any time, and for any thing?

Why is there any urge to improve? How can we rate degrees of
improvement? What in us improves? What needs that kind of improvement?
Is there to be found in our "Conscience" an index of something inherent
in us that is already pure, just, fair and true? Do we know inside
ourselves, when we are hurting or imposing on others?

5

How are we going to rate companionship, friendship, brotherhood, a
co-religionist, a fellow politician, persons of the same nation? Do
these labels of difference and yet a certain sameness help us to live
better lives?

How should we treat members of our family? Are there any real strangers?

6

Anger is impatience and annoyance directed at others when they do not
adopt our methods or follow our instructions - usually. And,

7

"Ego" is usually deep selfishness, pride, and a desire for "fame" -- it
seems to me to be a placing of ourselves (personality) first and
superior to all else. And we all know deep within our own consciousness,
that this is untrue. It is true because we adopt IGNORANCE as a basis
for our supposed superiority, and in doing so, we lose the humility that
enables us to learn more about the environment we are in and the way in
which the VAST UNIVERSE has arranged things in a harmonious manner.
Strange that we desire to impose our type of ignorance on others !

THEOSOPHY teaches brotherhood because of the immortality of the
Spiritual Soul [ATMA-BUDDHI-MANAS] which is at the base of our own true
egoity and Real Consciousness. [We all have some fear of the unknown --
death, for this present personality is such an unknown. But THEOSOPHY
has presented information that is the result of experience and logic to
give a perspective about the states after physical death. It is
comparative to states after going to sleep. The Real Man --
CONSCIOUSNESS OF SELF -- is never lost, and when we awake (from either
sleep or death) a physical body awaits for the animating consciousness
to return. In the case of rebirth, a new body replaces the old worn-out
one. If we do not fear sleep, why fear death? The Law of Justice
(Karma) arranges for our return in an environment logically and justly
in succession to that which we left -- and in the company of those who
were our earlier family, friends and companions.]

It also teaches justice, mercy and compassion because of Karma -- or
that universal law of harmony and justice -- that brings back to those
who make choices and changes, the exact results that those changes
imposed on others.

In other words, we are made to feel by anticipation, ahead of time, that
what we deal out to others, is likely destined to be returned to us as
an experience we will have, at some time in our own future.

Why has our world, and environment been so designed that this kind of
law operates? Or is this inexact? If so, what alternatives are there?
What are we to depend on?

Is it for this reason that people desire "forgiveness?" And also, offer
up prayers to be "forgiven?" [I always ask myself: Who takes care of
making reparation or redressing the hurt of others -- that we may have
instigated? Are we not responsible for that? Is this evidence that we
are interiorly aware we will eventually have t repay? Does the idea of
an eternal hell arise because of this -- as a kind of threat to us after
death? And finally: How many have returned from death to say and prove
there is either a Hell or a Heaven? ]

When we get down to basics, are we living in a world of order or of
disorder? Can we demonstrate either of these is superior and is
operative and dependable, and in all cases, to act specifically?

Best wishes,

Dallas

The devil is a sharp guy, because he doesn't have the psychological
inhibitions of principles / codes of conduct ! But, only pitfall is that
he
has tons of ego !

Even anger is ok - ego is worse - Kill ego first - u will
find a lot of other evils vanishing, automatically, including anger,
mostly!

Most cases of anger are due to ego, the illegitimate, trivial cause.
Anger is just an instantaneous annoyance - and absolutely legitimate !

Most of us follow principles and codes of conduct, not to lead a better
life
or actualise self - rather, to satisfy ego - fix an identify ! Raghu
will be
better known as a man of principles than as someone without, whether or
not
I follow the same consciously ! I claim to be patient and am pseudo
patient - why - just for the heck of gaining the recognition - Raghu,
the
man of patience. Some are even desperate to prove that they have no ego
-
ain't that ego ? It is merely a gesture to establish an identity for
his
self that he is a man of nil ego ! The real non egotist will go cool,
irrespective of what this world might say. (not thick skinned, exactly -
they do a lot of self introspection and will be on the right track most
times, that the others are) & they keep unto themselves.

Youngsters start fixing their identity, from their teens ! My name, my
school, my pen, my handwriting, my signature, my identity, my
language... &
in this pursuit, lose sight of their core duty ! Most of their positive
energy gets negative.

And, Respect is demanded, by elders(so called), unfortunately - simply,
because they are not able to command the same. The criterion? Well,
age,
buddy - that is what they have aplenty, ain't it?

Take it straight, buddy - Age / Birth certificate cannot be a criterion
for
respect ! The unstoppable process of time, makes everyone on planet
older
irrespective of whether they are good or bad, whether they are
worthwhile /
worthless, helpful / helpless - irrespective of even whether they are
humans
or animals !!! Ain't it ??

Keep it simple - No conscious mistake - that's it !

Raghu
