Hallo Daniel and all,

My views are:

Allright - we agree on the words "there are MANY SIMILARITIES ".

About your question.
Did you not read the following ?
You could read it again and give a few words on it.
--- Part 1: Morten on Views that are "limited", "frozen", "miserable",
"old" ---
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/15407
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/15409 (the correction)

The following will almost cover the mentioned Part 2, which I had planned.

My view is, that each Wisdom Teaching of a certain quality is
connected with
a) Time, place people and circumstances
b) promoting a teaching in accordance with the following view as the above
link said:
"So very important: The use of ideas is to shape a man or woman, not to
support a system - which is viewed in a limited manner. This is one way in
which the Wisdom Tradition is 'living', and not just the perpetuations of
ideas and movements. This seems important to understand and know about."

Therefore it would be wrong to cling to just one author when promoting
Theosophy (!!!)
--- "We cull the good we find in each" --- H. P. Blavatsky

This view ( in the link
http://theos-talk.com/archives/200210/tt00046.html )
could be called an enhancement of what some calls the Blavatsky Doctrine,
and what is written on the first pages in The Secret Doctrine,
as well as by Alice A. Bailey in her book "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire" in her
Forword
and by mr. Bowen in his paper which we find at
http://www.katinkahesselink.net/metaphys/th-bowen.htm#Footnotes_by_Katinka_Hesselink

It is closely connected to the following quote, you sometimes have used when
emailing:
"...Contrast alone can enable us to appreciate things at
their right value; and unless a judge compares notes and
hears both sides he can hardly come to a correct decision."
H.P. Blavatsky. The Theosophist, July, 1881, p. 2

-----------------------------------

You say: "Chance?? Or ..........."

I say:
So my view is that Bailey (and her friend D.K.) wrote the books
with these above quotes and views in mind, which I have just presented in
this email.
If this is true, then it can certainly explain the many similarities between
Bailey's book "Initiation - Human and Solar" and CWL's book
"The Masters and the Path" - including the Maitryea-hierarchy ideas or what
one will call them.

We all of us knows the words in the Bhagavad Gita on WHEN the Avatar
incarnates ==>>
"When Righteousness Declines, O Bharata! when Wickedness
Is strong, I rise, from age to age, and take
Visible shape, and move a man with men,
Succouring the good, thrusting the evil back,
And setting Virtue on her seat again.
Who knows the truth touching my births on earth
And my divine work, when he quits the flesh
Puts on its load no more, falls no more down
To earthly birth: to Me he comes, dear Prince!"
Chapter IV, 7-9.

We all can find HPB's words on Maitreya in The Secret Doctrine, where
Maitreya is mentioned
under many names - on of them as the Kalki Avatar, the Fifth Buddha. And
also her view in certain
of her articles and perhaps a few letters.
We can compare HPB's views on Maitryea with the Besant-CWL scheme around
Maitreya-Krishnamurti -
and also Bailey's Maitreya views.

And if we do so, I think most of us will reach the conclusion, that Bailey's
view on the future and the Avatar issue
is more close to HPB's view than the Besant-CWL view.
HPB often talks about various levels of Avatars in The Secret Doctrine.
(And here we have to avoid dead-letter reading.)

But this is only an opinion presented by me.
To show that it is not just based on thin air would take considerable time.

-------
On the other hand - I will agree entirely with you if you say,
that some leaders of Bailey groups today have been reading in the Bailey
books
what THEY WANTED. And that they therefore
have created - rest of reason - among a certain of those who are very
devotional
in nature. Often Those who often have been used to a Christian outlook upon
the world.

If one reads Bailey's books carefully and "cull the good we find in each"
thought-system - as HPB said,
then I see no reason to do as many Bailey groups are doing today.
But this is just my view.

The Bailey books should never be treated as an esoteric Bible-collection.
My view is, that Both HPB and Bailey would have rejected that.
Never-the-less this is what is happening today.

In Bailey's book "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire" we read the
following Forword by her late husband Foster Bailey - written in 1950:

"During the long course of the work the minds of the Tibetan and A.A.B.
became so closely attuned that they were in effect - so far as much of the
production of the teaching was concerned - a single joint projecting
mechanism. Even to the end A.A.B. often spoke of her amazement at the
glimpses she obtained through contact with the Tibetan's mind, of limitless
vistas of spiritual truths which she could not possibly have otherwise
contacted, and often of a quality she could not possibly express. This
experience was the basis of her often-proclaimed but frequently
little-understood assertion that all the teachings she was aiding in
producing was in fact only the A B C of esoteric knowledge, and that in the
future she would gladly abandon any pronouncement in the present teaching,
when she found better and more deeply esoteric teaching available. Clear and
profound as the teaching actually is in the books published in her name, the
truths imparted are so partial and subject to later revelation and expansion
that this fact, if constantly remembered, will give us a second much-needed
safeguard against that quality of the concrete mind which constantly tends
to produce sectarianism."

And one could read Bailey's own Forword to that book very carefully,
so to understand the background on which all the rest of her books rests.
"A Treatise on Cosmic Fire - Foreword"

My view is
As a main teaching - the Bailey books has more followers than Besant-CWL's
books today.
Because of this and because of the many Bailey groups extremely devotional
and/or Western nature
as well as their different leaderships, -
there has for some years now been created an unhealthy karmic circle which
has to be broken,
if further development and compassion should be created within these groups
on this our planet.

The view is:
a) The Middle Eastern spirituality, esoteric teachings and wisdom of the
past and present should not be left in the dark and be trampled upon.
b) The same goes on the African cultures.
b) The highly devotional Bailey-Bible dead-letter teachings should be -
released by something else of
a non dead-letter nature - so to break the frozen thought-patterns of the
Seekers.
c) The Teaching on Vedanta and similar - Buddhistic teachings when suitable,
(and perhaps with other words than the dead-letter estern ones)
should be promoted much more within the western-thinking Bailey circles.

How this could come about - is a completely different story.

These were just my humble views...
Did this help ?
