That's not surprising. Many Kohanim have little or no idea of their actual 
heritage. My information comes from a Kohane Rebbe and Kabbalist who claimed 
to be descended from both Moses and Aaron. He explained it as the result of an 
early intermarriage between cousins before it was forbidden, and that his 
heritage extends through both the male and the female lines before that was 
discouraged. The above was written simply to expand on the idea that Jews should 
not be considered from a racial point of view, and that there are distinctions 
between different lines of Judaism. Since I don't want to get too deep into 
such arcane discussions of religion publicly, if you wish to go on with it in 
any depth I suggest you write me personally.
