That is true of course but it just means that forms were preceded for
lack of form. Form in other words is not eternal/

Ex nihilo, nihil fit means that matter is uncreated and that it is co-
eternal with spirit, which is to say, with the basis of
consciousness. That position is also taken in the SD, where
Mulaprakrti (undifferentiated cosmic matter) exists throughout all
pralayas, whereas forms come and go and even consciousness lapses
during the Maha Pralaya. We di not say that matter is co-eternal
with consciousness itself (as distinguished from spirit) because
consciousness is preceded by unconsciousness just as form is preceded
by formlessness. Nonetheless the substratum of consciousness exists
when consciousness does not.
Of course this is ultimately just sublime speculation. Mind candy I
think of it as.
