Netemara and All,
I also enjoyed Daniel's post as I am certain many others did also. The
Sound Current is a splendid area of inquiry that crosses all the
boundaries that seem to erect synthetic basis for contestations among
people that have advocacy's of personal preference. But in examination
one finds a near universal inclusion of the sound current whether it be the
Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Zen, Christian, Islam, or even Suma Ching Hai who
expresses it as Quan Yin (Shai).
One of the sources I like is a work by Jai Deva Singh: "Spanda Karikas--
The Divine Creative Pulsation" 1980.
Another work is : "Sar Bachan -An abstract of the Teachings of Swamaji
Maharaj, the Founder of the Radha Swami system of Philosophy and
Spiritual Science: The Yoga Of The Sound Current" published by:
Radha Soami Satsang Beas, Dera Baba Jalma Singh, Beas India (my
edition is the 6th ed. 1974 .)
I might add that in 1875 certainly the Western Society had not the
exposure or opportunity to access a lot of these Teachings, but one
should also know that the Mystical "sounds" reiterated in the Voice
have been a traditional doctrine taught in the texts of India in a more
succinct un-ornamented form. They are to be found indexed and listed
in most works treating the topic of the "Siddhi's" experienced on the
path of progress in the Yoga. Today one can access a Treasury on these
subjects both by direct instruction or by the profound literature now
published widely and easily accessed in most Western lands. They
give opportunity of "expansion" of mind and understanding.
When I was a young boy I without any work or effort received the Nada.
I knew not what it was, only that it was not of the Earth or Earthly
sounds.
It stayed with me 31 years. During that time I toured Europe and on
weekends made a very short trip to Wurzberg in Germany and walked
that city not even knowing at that time that H.P.B. had lived there on
Willhelmstrasse. How I wish I had known then what I was to know
later. It was to be 20 years before I cultivated an interest in Theosophy.
When I took a leave and went to London I wandered and looked for a
reasonable lodging which ended up being "The Albion Court" bed and
breakfast which was 1/2 block from Hyde Park and the Marble Arch,
so very close to where Radha had spent relaxing time there, again I
was like a blind sheep, later looking back how I wished I had known
I was practically sitting in her lap without any conscious awareness.
