Yes, as I said Theosophy is a good base, and a good place to start.
But we shouldn't get stuck there.
I don't recall in my reading of HPB much about how "ectoplasm" was
formed, nor how it behaved. It is obviously some phenomena of the
physical body. Could it be used in another setting to heal? Has it
some relationship to Prana?
All I get from Theosophy is to shun it, and the investigation of it.
There must be many more things about the physical body that Theosophy
doesn't address that could be useful in our modern living.
What does she say about Hypnotism, Acupuncture, Germs, and Viruses? I
am sure that if she were alive, she would be interested. We should not
shun the study of these things just because she didn't write about
them.
HPB & the Masters were on the forefront of these investigations when
they were alive, and in correspondence and speculating with all the
best minds who were alive when they were. I believe that if they were
here now, they would be using the latest instrumentation to
investigate it to the limits of the frontier of both the spiritual and
the physical.
The Masters didn't seem stuck in the 16th century. They embraced the
latest technology when HPB and Mr. Olcott wrote about them. HPB & HSO
wrote about traveling around on elephants, and on horses, and other
conveyances when they were the only way to get around, but they used
steamships, and the railways when they were available. The Masters
precipitated messages inside telegraph dispatches, and I believe
actually sent a telegram or two.
HSO wrote about the various Masters visiting the Headquarters,
arriving on steam ships and then after visiting, going on to China,
and Japan, and other places. I am sure that where ever they travel
now, they use the Jet Airplanes, and don't restrict themselves to
steam ships because that is what was available in the time of HPB.
I suspect that if you visited their homes now, you would find
satellite dishes, and internet connected devices. I don't think that
they would restrict their homes to candle light, just because that is
what was available 150 years ago.
HSO wrote about the Glare of the gas light jet when it first came to
New York, and then mentions electric lights later.
The Amish seem to be stuck somewhere in the 1800s, and many modern
Christians seem to think that time ended with the publication with the
King James Edition of the Bible.
I don't think that we should make the writings of HPB into another
version of the K.J.Bible, and get stuck in time in the 1890s.
