Hi, Mauri
Just a comment, what did Annie really edit in SDIII that is so unacceptable?
Did she changed, mangled the true meanings of the Doctrine of this particular volume?
My belief today is, from what I know from HPB´s psychic capacities, she was proud and amused of Annie becoming a member of the TS at the time she went to meet HPB for the 1st time.
She foresaw her potential.
She could not be wrong.
She knew that anybody, even after making a close contact with Masters, remains still human and subject to errors.
HPB did have a heart so true and pure that she even permitted that other could opine her works sometimes... and she would´nt probably mind if a edition could be made in her Volume III, unless, of course, a respectable amount of distortion could appear...in this case... no Toronto´s celebration to her!
I think, as far as I know, both Annie and Leadbeater, comitted some notablemistakes in their leadership, but they helped spreading Theosophy in a simple manner though their books.
In my humble opinion, the S.D., due to its consistent, original and deep information, could be exclusively fated to a thin elite, otherwise Jinarajadasa, Leadbeater, Annie and others who made more synthetical compilations and further investigations, becoming SD more acessible.

Subject: Theos-World re Dallas, Besant, SD III

Dallas, I seem to recall that you had access to SD III at some point,
so, since A.L. Cleather mentioned that Besant made many changes
(thousands?) in the editing of it, could you tell us whether Besant
has let the reader know about the details of her editing of it? Or is
it that Besant is offering SD III as if it were "the work of HPB and
the masters"?

I ask because I'm confused about why the Toronto TS here would want
to "celebrate" the "life and work" of a Besant who (apparently?)
mangled (among other things?) HPB's SD III. ^:-/ That is, I wonder
if Besant did all that editing and left the reader in the dark about
the details of her editing. If so, I fail to see how any reasonably
intelligent person would want to "celebrate" her life and work (unless
it's the kind of celebrating that includes the Coulombs and various
other tearer downers, in which case one might assume (?), some sort of
esotericy, broader perspective might be seen to apply?).

Thanks for any help and best wishes,
Mauri
