The issue before us

Mar 12, 2003 06:32 PM
by Bill Meredith

Perhaps in these difficult times we might be better advised to focus on the
problem at hand, instead of succumbing to the joy of beating up on the USA
and Dubya just because we can. I am citing a document
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/iraq_wmd/Iraq_Oct_2002.htm
by the CIA (of course if you don't trust the CIA you will not believe
anything they say) dated Oct 2002 which clearly defines the issues that face
the free people of this planet. Please look it over and note the severity
of the problem. If you do not think that this is a good year to prevent
Saddam from firing nuclear warheads at Israel, which year do you like?
Before our children are grown, Saddam will have that capability. He is
determined to gain the nuclear advantage. He has already demonstrated the
willingness to use every advantage at his disposal to get his way. What
alternative do you offer to this dilemma? Anti-war rhetoric and "Give peace
a chance" slogans, will not prevent Saddam from achieving his obvious goals:
regional domination and world influence. Neither will continued sanctions.
There may be other alternatives, but bashing the US doesn't seem to be one
that will stop Saddam (although it may very well serve to stop us from
stopping him). What do you think will? Or should we concern ourselves with
such things? Many people are desperately seeking VIABLE alternatives to
war. Give us something we can use.
