Steve Covey is a Mormon who has made millions writing books, giving
lectures, etc.
In 1970's, his first book THE SPIRITUAL ROOTS OF HUMAN RELATIONS was a
bestseller in Mormon circles. He has long since expanded out to the
public in general but his entire system is based on Mormon premises.
During the late 70's, I held the Mormon leadership position of Stake
Mission President and Senior president of the Seventies for the Albany
New York Stake of Zion. (that meant that I was in charge of all
missionary work for our stake, which consisted of 13 local units or
wards) Anyway, during that same time, Steve Covey was appointed to the
then high position of Mission Representitive to the Twelve Apostles,
which meant that he had the responsibility to train guys like me using
his nifty system. That's the only time I know that he actually taught any
of his ideas for free! So I got to sit face to face with him for these
one on one sessions. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed. I had my own
techniques and did quite well with them, thank you very much.
Much of Covey's work deals with families which is a big thing in
Mormonism (As in "No other success can compensate for failure in the
home" David O McKay, 9th Mormon President) Some of his books have
actually done quite well on the bestseller list, but this isn't really
material most Theosophists would be interested in.
