Jewish Emigration to China

Does anyone confirm the following quote I found on a website:

"About 50K Jews came to China from all over the world. Most of them settled
down in Shanghai. China is the only country in the world at that time that did
not require entry visa, Anybody could freely board at any port of China. But
nowadays, this piece of history is almost forgot by the Jewish communities (or
they pretend to forget) in the United States of which most of their acendents
escaped NAZI's massacre because China accepted them during the darkest time."
