Re: The OPENED Eye of the Dangma [the WISE] S.D. I 27, 45

Dear Friends:

This is so interesting as it embraces, in a way, the whole
objective of the Theosophical philosophy. A study of this one
characteristic can lead us to a review of all the adherent and
cohesive principles and laws of operation that lead towards the
ultimate PERFECTION envisaged for all beings. That is complete
WISDOM that is instantaneous and universal. It is a wisdom that
could make us incapable of deviating from the DIVINE PATH.
Immediately the question arises: Is this slavery or is it
freedom?

In The SECRET DOCTRINE Vol. I p. 27 (verse 8) [ see also p. 45]
one reads that the "Eye of the Dangma" remains "open" even during
pralaya when everything else is quiescent and acting on
non-physical planes.

If we look at Pralaya as a vast period of time (similar to the
time we spend in Devachan between incarnations) we can understand
by analogy that the processes that take place there and then, are
primarily the assimilation to character and Monadic continuity of
consciousness of the spiritual works all Monads have done.

We must also remember that The SECRET DOCTRINE teaches (Vol. I
619, 632-3) each Monad mirrors every other, and in the 2nd
reference we are given the definition of the various stages of
Monadic development. [ The MONAD is an infinitesimal life-unit,
and is composed of two principles that are forever unite
inextricably: 1. SPIRIT - or Atma, and 2. PRIMORDIAL MATTER -
or Buddhi.

As we proceed we find that a third "principle" is invariably
present: that is MANAS the Mind, and it is to be observed that
it sits midway between the polar opposites and serves to
impartially and forever record all the works and results of this
pair in their continued interplay. A symbol to this trinity in
evolution may be seen in the CADUCEUS (S.D. I 549-550) it also
symbolized in the Wand and the Brazen Serpent (S.D. II 208).

But the Monads are themselves evidence of the development of
individualized CONSCIOUSNESS out of the Supreme ONE
CONSCIOUSNESS/NON-CONSCIOUSNESS - the forever indefinable
ABSOLUTE. Concerning THAT, the occult doctrine states only that
IT IS.

If, in our period of Manvantara, we recognize the holy and
advanced stage of spirituality and wisdom of a Mahatma or an
Adept, of a Buddha or a Dhyan Chohan, -- who do not need a
"Devachan" and who may not even need a material body such as we
now use (S.D. II 275fn, 280-281 on the "Deathless Race") - we
can, by analogy be led to understand that such SPIRITUAL BEINGS
are not affected by the condition of Pralaya. They are awake,
alive and working. The symbol given to us for this state or
condition is the OPENED EYE.

As to a resemblance of the eye of the DANGMA to the EYE OF SIVA.
A similarity can be traced if we refer to the characteristics of
this EYE OF SIVA. Siva is called in The SECRET DOCTRINE the
MAHA-YOGI and the Patron of all true Yogis. (see S.D. I 358,
457fn, 459, II 282, 613) In the 1st vol. of The SECRET
DOCTRINE one may find a great hint on this subject offered in
regard to the INITIATOR and the "GREAT SACRIFICE."

It is the Wisdom Eye. It is always concealed and never used
except in the direst crisis. It is said to be the eye of BUDDHI,
of that kind of WISDOM which sees into the causes and the effects
of all events, and thereby KNOWS KARMA in full. A good reference
to this will be found in THE THEOSOPHICAL GLOSSARY pp. 170-1
under KAMADEVA. [ Other references: S.D. II 241-2,294-8, 769,
H.P.B. Articles Vol. II 60, 477-8, 482 T. Glossary, p. 117 ]

No wonder the EYES are called the "windows of the Soul."

Best wishes,

Dallas.

As I understand the Eye of Dangma... In India, it can be
referred to "The
Eye of Shiva" but in esoteric phraseology, it is the Eye of
Dangma. Dangma
means a purified soul, one who has become the highest adept. His
opened eye
is the inner spiritual eye of teh seer, and the faculty which
manifests
through it is not clairvoyance as ordinarily understood, but the
faculty of
spiritual intuition, through which direct and certain knowledge
is
obtainable. It intimately is connected with the third eye. SD
I, p. 46.

As I am knew to all of this and just recently joined, you can
tell from the
above answer, that I am in slightly over my head. Any
correspondence would
be greatly appreciated. Non-the-less, these readings have tied
many loose
ends up for me. Prior, I had ideas that came from somewhere, but
were
fragmentary and I had no reason to believe that they were correct
and not
delusions. HPB's work solved some of these mysteries, but I
certainly do
not consider myself to be an adept, even in the widest
definition.

My question is this, "can an ordinary person (an
non-adept)experience a hint
of the Eye of Dangma or would that experience be that only
involving
intuitions from the third eye?"
