Dear Chris:
SPIRITUAL SOUL is a Human
Theosophy views every human being as evidence of the incarnation
of a spiritual soul. The purpose of such incarnation is to
improve one's understanding of Nature, her Laws and our own
progress (in the company of many others).
It makes little difference how we might classify ourselves. We
are always mid-way between the beginning and the end of our
personal evolution. Thus holding a BALANCE POSITION we, now,
have our fate in our hands. We are not bound to anything g
except what we have chosen in the past. That is called in a
vague but rather potent way: "our Karma." So we find ourselves
in conditions and situations which we created by our free-willed
choices in the past, and our future will depend on our present
options and decisions.
EVOLUTION OF MIND, SPIRIT-SOUL AND BODY
When in evolution the form graduates to a refinement of its
composition that it becomes suitable for the incarnation of a
MIND, (which is the universal condition of humanity -- and all
its many ranges of diversity included) we may say that the
independence of the Monad is established and from that point each
human makes his own path towards a common goal, rather vaguely
defined as PERFECTION.
PERFECTION AND CHOICE
The idea is that we can choose what we want to do in developing
all or any of our abilities, in our path towards a total
knowledge of the Universe we live in. This involves the concept
of the Human being an ETERNAL PILGRIM; the Universe being rules
by just and impartial laws, fair to everyone, and this common
goal we are looking at.
So in the course of our many past incarnations we have been any
things (as to character, capacity, talents, abilities -- or their
lack). The general rule is the same for all of us.
Our future is being outlined by us every instant of this life.
If you can secure a copy of THE OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY (or access it
"on-line" through BLAVATSKY.NET) by Mr. W. Q. Judge, you will
find several valuable chapters on reincarnation. The book is
short (19-) pages, but it gives a comprehensive survey of the
doctrines and logic of THEOSOPHY.
Best wishes,
Dallas
