Dear Mauri:
A "Web-site" does not imply the total wisdom of H.P.B. It does
imply that a group of students try to determine from Her writings
that which is most likely to answer a questioner.
So long as the questioner does not try to learn from Theosophical
texts that which H.P.B. has offered there will be great confusion
of words and ideas.
To avoid this the study (together if possible at a common meeting
room, lodge, study-class, etc...) is recommended because many
differences can be quickly cleared up. If this is not possible
physically then the exchange of letters is the next step, but
that is not all -- the study of common texts tries to bring the
newcomer up to the talking/thinking level of those who studied
Theosophy earlier. [ As texts I strongly recommend THE KEY TO
THEOSOPHY -- H.P.B.; and THE OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY by W. Q. Judge.
As I see it, this is what is happening in letter/conversations
with you.
But first, I would like to make clear that Theosophy is NOT
speculative. It is a very ancient system and has been the root
base of all the ancient Religions, on, up to the present. You
will find this clearly explained by H.P.B. in ISIS UNVEILED and
THE SECRET DOCTRINE.
Your reading of the KEY TO THEOSOPHY ought to show you that.
Definite words are used for definite things, and as a student of
Theosophy you ought to be able to absorb, mull over, decide and
devise ways of grasping the meanings of the words used. It is
like geography, chemistry, physics, mathematics, grammar, etc..
Each of those divisions has an accepted nomenclature currently
used. Those who wish to study those subjects learn their words,
phrases, etc, so that discussion can ensue.
As I see it, the regularity of the operations of Nature in all
departments are not the result of chance, or of coincidence, but
the result of laws, which, recurring, allow anyone to study,
grasp and understand, and then express their observations in
terms all know how to understand. Perhaps you are trying to get
Theosophy to fit into the nomenclature of modern Psychology? It
won't work., except with extreme difficulty, because the basis
of Theosophy and that of modern Psychology is very different. So
the first job is to establish agreed on words and principles of
description.
The statements and principles theosophy describes and uses are
built out of millions of years of study. Its expressions of
metaphysics and use of descriptive concepts are the result on
aeons of years of studying the Universe, our Earth, Mankind, and
Nature (as a synonym for the Universe) (S.D. I 272-3)
So it is not a question of whether those descriptive words are
true or not,, but rather, whether they are correctly correlated.
[ Example: does 2 + 2 = 4 a million years ago still yield the
same answer? Is there an immortal SOUL in man or not? Does the
Universe seem small, petty, ill guided, or, do the observations
of our astronomers show regularity, integrity, laws in operation
(on which Science depends ? ]
You seem to inquire in the "What if" mode, and do you carry out
your questions into an answer phase that yields a rational
answer? Have you arrived at certain conclusions? What is your
view of the Universe, of Karma, of the 7-fold nature of Mankind
and the Universe he lives in, and what are the probable goals of
the universe in evolution, including yourself therein ?
You seem to inquire if observations are honestly and sincerely
reported so that Science and, presumably our living, is based on
that. Theosophy does not reject any of the actual observations
of Science. But, it finds that many of the hypotheses and
speculations of Science are inaccurate -- and Theosophy proceeds
to show why.
This is what the students of theosophy are investigating. Is
that your objective too?
Best wishes,
Dallas

Dear Dallas,
