Dear Dennis:
Thanks.
I am aware of what you have so kindly quoted. All that I wish to
make plain is that we have no more than the unsupported claims of
those persons for what they offer.
The only basis we have of ascertaining the validity of these
claims ( or of any one's claims) is the coherence and rationality
of those statements as compared with the PHILOSOPHY OF THEOSOPHY.
To do this we have to know well what Theosophy is. Without that
knowledge we are accepting such claims blindly and we really have
nothing but "faith" on which to base our "acceptance."
I do not in any way seek to change anyone's "faith," but only to
make clear that such a "faith" (and this includes my own) is
either "enlightened" with actual knowledge, or is not.
Each of us alone knows what category we ought to place ourselves
in. Only a dogmatist would seek to place others into either of
those categories. A true student of Theosophy points to the
doctrines and the logic enshrined in THEOSOPHY, and leaves
speculation to those who desire to use that as a roosting spot.
Best wishes.
Dallas
PS You will notice that those who have actual knowledge and
wisdom, do not use that as a basis for any personal claims. They
put THEOSOPHY forth as the only basis for consideration and leave
personalities in the background because those are really
side-issues.

I have been discussing TULKU with you, as in the book
H.P.BLAVATSKY, TIBET &
TULKU for a few months now. Do you suppose those are what he is
talking
about?
I am rather new to the Judge branch of the Theosophical Movement.
Did Judge
exhibit any evidence of multiple personalities as an adult? That
would be
the outer evidence (to a layman) of Tulku abilities.
I have read that Judge, as a small child got quite ill in
Ireland, and when
he awoke from a coma, he exhibited a change in personality, and
showed a
great interest in reading mystical and occult books, when he had
not known
how to read when he got sick. But the sentence above suggests a
"tulku"
tendency as an adult. I would like to know more about this, and
just exactly
what talents he had that Mrs. Tingley also had.
DTB I am not personally aware of what Mrs. Tingley had in the way
of talents. I am aware of some of the claims made by and for
her. She wrote very little on Theosophy. I note that contrary
to Judge the TS did not prosper in the same stream of progress.
The valuing of this progress has to be left to individuals to
decide on.

--and what did they see or understand that would cause them to
believe that
she was in contact with them? I know Leadbeater and Besant were
in touch
with them. That makes me wonder if the Masters had some
confidence that the
Judge branch would be doing the work of the three "Objects" of
Their society
at that time as well.
DTB As I said. those claims were made for them. There is no
proof that either of those two were in ACTUAL CONTACT WITH THE
MASTERS. Is there ?
I note the third Object is - [from THE QUEST Magazine]- To
investigate
unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in humanity.
Tulku
certainly would fall in that Object.
DTB The term is not one that HPB used, is it? In ISIS UNVEILED,
vol. 2 from page 587 on there is careful discussion and
description of the powers used by an ADEPT. From page 600 on is
a description of the transfer of consciousness from an adult to a
child, to illustrate one of these faculties.
