Perhaps you are confused about her writing that we have experienced five Root
Races, and two more are on the way. Perhaps you have confused HPB's writings
with those of Alice Bailey. In either case, I challenge you to find a quote
from HPB's writing backing up your assertion that she said we currently
possess five keys to anything.
But Darren, who's ignoring you? I read your posts. There's generally just
very little to respond to. As another of the allegedly "very very few" young
Theosophists (i.e., joined when I was 17, I'm still under 30), I question your
right to speak for "our generation." Your choice of path has little to do
with age. I too have lived in India, studied under amazing teachers. Many
people on this list have. So what?
Sex, drugs, magic, all that stuff is fine. By all means, spend yourself in
psychism and imagine that you are in prajna/dhyana/samadhi/satori/sat-chit-
ananda (they're all the same, right???). Yours is an age old path, well-
trodden, and Aleister Crowley is an extraordinarily good teacher of it--read
up on him, he has much to offer on the psychic path and the fruits thereof.
But why blow the trumpet like we're all missing something? Do you think none
of us have read and participated in Masonry, Eleusinian Mysteries, Gnosticism,
Kabbala, Tantra? Do you think the Sages of history, who truly have had the
best interests of humanity at heart, would have failed to share a quick, easy
path with the multitudes (or even with the few) if it existed? I can't
imagine a Sage like Gautama Buddha or Lao-tsu failing to offer a simple, drug-
induced solution to stem the overwhelming tide of human suffering.
Rather, the real Teachers have always taught the slow, quiet path, one that
doesn't draw attention to itself, or promise quick results. Paranormal
experiences are, as you suggest, all too easy to come by. And so what of
them? Does experiencing an extraordinary altered state of consciousness
thereby make one eternally free from suffering and sadness? Or, when you come
down, are you still bound hand and foot to the wheel of Becoming?
Rather, I suspect your own diagnosis is correct: you're bored.
Another note: there's no drug-ingestion in the Esoteric Section. Really.
Join it and see, if you care to.
