Dear Kirsten:

The "Secret Doctrine" that most of us refer to is the reprint of
the ORIGINAL EDITION of 1888.

It was reprinted in 1893 as a "2nd and revised edition" with over
40,000 alterations which HPB had not approved of.

Subsequently it went through the hands of several editors and has
been further altered.

For the sake of accuracy and safety the 1888 edition is the one
that is used for our references. Good Indexes have been printed
