Having ventured away from the "arm chair", I'd say this is very possible.
There are a number of new age exercises to dampen auras for protection;
creating dampening fields and containing geometrics is basic stuff.   It
would take quite a bit of daring and power to attempt it on someone like
HPB and I doubt that it would be effective for very long.  If Beverly
Paschal Randolph was involved, it makes the story more believable.
