First, there's an improvement in character because the meditator becomes more aware of the Self. Secondly, the intuitive power is developed, and therefore a clearer understanding of stimuli from the physical world. Third, other occult skills are developed for self-betterment (small 's') in the physical plane.

Like you, I also didnt quite understand what's it all for, this Inner Silence state, until all the mess in my life led me to find it. You have also to try it, and perhaps you will see that change in the society in general starts with small changes within the Individual.
