Re: Theos-World Lay Mens'/Womens' Comments on Legal Matters

Prior to Internet, the medium of communication to members was controlled by
the leaders. Finally with Internet, any one can post any message without any
interference by anyone. (That is what is going on in theos-talk for years.)

The power of Internet became very obvious when the international election
started two years ago. It allowed quick broadcast of critical information
and but for Internet, especially theos-talk, we will have a totally
different TS and we would not be talking here, IMHO.

The most critical event was the disclosure of the ill fated ultra secret
move to disenfranchise all members and a few western members of GC seizing
control of the presidency. Historians will be able to draw a very
interesting picture in the future about what was going on behind the scenes
and the real players.

My comment was specifically on the yakking going on in Internet forums about
the proceedings of the General Council meeting in 2008. The legality of
proceedings is a matter for lawyers to state their opinions. So far I have
not seen a single lawyer write anything about it and put their name and
reputation behind what their opinion is.

Faceless individuals hiding behind pseudonyms, yakking about the proceedings
may be interesting and good for public consumption to besmirch the
reputation of TS; but not for anyone who is familiar with the legal issues
surrounding proceedings of annual meetings of organizations.

Until some lawyer comes up with their legal opinion stated under their
names, many would not give much credence to yakking going on.
