Re: Theos-World Election of the Vice-President & related issues - Contradictions & Question that

Preethi

I don?t know why false rumours are started by those who

don?t like the result of the elections, you will have to ask

the people concerned. I can only relate the truth of what

actually happened.

The previous Vice President, as a member of the General

Council, received notification by email that a new VP had

been nominated on 20 September 2008, and he cast a vote

in the election by email two days later.

There is no contradiction of terms in what I have stated, the

VP election concluded on 20 October 2008 and the result

was first communicated to the members of the General

Council and later to members throughout the world in the

December issue of The Theosophist.

The result of the election was again reported at the GC

meeting along with all the other elections. The President

agreed to the voting slips being scrutinized in order to console

members of the GC who did not trust the result and had asked

to see the ballot papers. However, it was the votes that had

already been cast by members of the GC that confirmed or

rejected a nominated candidate, the scrutiny of ballot papers

only confirmed that the count was correct and that there had

been no corruption or deception.

You will have to address the first three of your numbered

questions to the members concerned, I cannot answer for

them. The rights of a member to vote in a Presidential

election is not an issue at this time, the Draft Proposals to

change the rules were not discussed at the GC meeting.

Consequently, no rule is in the process of being changed,

and the rights of members to vote has been preserved.
