But I also think, that he cannot be the only one behind the craze.

I do not know much about Jose' Arguelles, (He says: "We'll find by 2012 that we really do not need governments after all." - I doubt it heavily.) Others have written that the Mayan Calenders was predicting a huge change in 1981. And not much new happened. Another issue is that parts of Atlantis was according to HPB placed in the Mayan geography.

There are issues which I did not mention, and it might be a good idea to touch upon them.


Various present dilemmas leading towards a possible coming Paradigm shift on Earth:

a) Climate Change
At present we have the clock ticking on the Climate Change issue. Recently it has been reported that a great Manhattan Sized piece or even two of ice will break off at Greenlands Petermann glacier. ( Here with a video at The New Scientist showing the cracks, jul 2009: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17465-arctic-glacier-to-lose-manhattansized-tongue.html ). Climate Change in fact produces a great deal more rain, storms and cyclones around the globe according to UN Climate Reports.
b) Nuclear weapons and other weapons
It has been come increasingly more difficult to avoid the spread of nuclear weapons and other kinds of weapons on this planet.
Such weapon can become a problem in the years ahead.
c) Pollution of the Oceans.
A study has revealed that an average of about 40% of the world oceans are polluted. Well so far.
It is obvious, that humanity cannot continue like this. And thinking about the whales and dolphins etc. I will have to shed a few tears being ashamed on behalf of our human race. d) We have an increasing knowledge on the use of genetic engineering. But will we in the future to come be ethical enough in handling our knowledge?
e) Technology.
 Fast communication, GPS, Internet (facebook, websites, youtube etc.), fast transportation, Satelite TV, mobile phones etc. etc. changes the world and how we and the various nations interact. The cultural differences show themselves more easily and clash more easily. And faults commited are much more easily transmitted to a large audience. For instance, we have that Spread of diseases happen faster than ever.
f) Pollution in general
g) Other issues.
h) And Religions paradigms.
There is a tendency on the planet towards changing the various major religions Paradigms. The reason for this is evolution as such and the above mentioned issues. It has for instance to do with the above change in techology and environmental problems. It is also due to the fact that the major religions, most of them have shown themselves to be - inadequate - in solving and importantly relating themselves wisely to the present changed world, with its more recent new problems. This tendency is not easily measured unless one uses the third eye and read the karmic patterns.
Some people regard all the above as a sure sign of the arrival of a socalled New World Order or a Golde Age. And they often tell us it will happen in the year 2012 or near that year.  Jose' Arguelles might be one of the major persons behind this view. But there are many others. Many small streams create a big river, as they say.


 Alice A. Bailey is another and earlier - in a sense more important - motivator to these 2012 views. 
The D.K. predicitons could of course be a bit inaccurate. Or Jose' Arguelles could also be imprecise.

*** A Treatise on Cosmic Fire ***
(1) "Later, towards the end of the greater cycle, the coming Avatar will again employ the vestures [755] with all that is entailed thereby, and will take a physical body, thus demonstrating on the physical plane the force of the Logos in the administration of the Law. When He comes at the close of this century and makes His power felt, He will come as the Teacher of Love and Unity, and the keynote He will strike will be regeneration through love poured forth on all." p. 755 --- 
(2)"These methods of over-shadowing will be largely the ones used by the Great Lord and His Masters at the end of the century, and for this reason They are sending into incarnation, in every country, disciples who have the opportunity offered them to respond to the need of humanity." - "The Master Jesus will take a physical vehicle, and with certain of His chelas effect a respiritualization of the Catholic churches, breaking down the barrier separating the Episcopal and Greek churches from the Roman. This may be looked for, should plans progress as hoped, about the year 1980. ", p. 759 - This last issue did obviously not occur. - 
(3) "This fact will be demonstrated towards the close of the century, and, during the early part of the next century a revolution in astronomical circles will occur which will result in the study of the "etheric planets." - p. 794 - This issue did obviously not occur. -
"The work of an Avatar of a lesser order Who will come in the beginning of the next century to reveal to man his relationship to the third kingdom." - p. 813 - We will wait on this. Maybe this is the 2012 or...? - 

*** The Externalization of the Hierarchy ***
(1) "Thus a great and new movement is proceeding and a tremendously increased interplay and interaction is taking place. This will go on until A.D. 2025. During the years intervening between now and then very great changes will be seen taking place, and at the great General Assembly of the Hierarchy - held as usual every century - in 2025 the date in all probability will be set for the first stage of the externalization of the Hierarchy." ("It is the sharing that is of importance.") - p. 530 - We will have to wait and see if this prediction will fail as well. - 
(2) "Owing to the development of atomic energy on behalf of human welfare, national currencies will have been largely superseded, not only by a system of barter but by a universal monetary exchange - representative of the bartered goods when they are relatively small and unimportant - and by a planned scale of related values. National material assets and the needed commodities will all be provided for under an entirely new system." - p. 581 - We will have to wait and see if this prediction will fail as well. It looks like it. -

This will be the outstanding characteristic of the Western disciple in contradistinction to the Eastern disciple who escapes from life into the silent places and away from the pressures of daily living and constant contact with others. The task of the Western disciple is much harder, but that which he will prove to himself and to the world as a whole will be still higher. This is to be expected if the evolutionary process means anything. The Western races must move forward into spiritual SUPREMACY"...[emphasis by Sufilight].

The whole scheme of the Alice A. Bailey books have the idea, that the Masters will externalize at the beginning of the 21th century. and before 2025 A.D. I only wonder if such "Masters" are under working a Western kind of "supremacy" Glamour?

All I am saying is that I agree on the view that there is a tendency towards a paradigm shift, but NOT in the manner given by Alice A. Bailey and not with a 2012 date as the one given the major importance by some seekers. Other years have equal importance and have not been mentioned. Year 2001 is already one of them. ("We have from 2004 to 2012 to make this shift so that in 2012, it's 13:20. " says Jose' Arguelles). Common sense is better here to use for most seekers. Those who know, they know.

Maybe it is all more Maya than Mayan. :-)

  politics and consciousness seem to be indicated and a new view piont on enviromental conservation, eccology issues seems to indicated,how does the forum this isasue.
