Re: Theos-World List member identity - Some ideas

I see no reason to engage in such prying. It is the words, not the
person, that matter. If someone feels a need to hide their true identity, then I
am willing to assume that the need is real and have no desire to out
someone who may face real difficulties as a result of what they say.

them.
Also some of them are from non English speaking countries and display
unusual facility with the use of language which normally takes a long time
to acquire. All these make some of us wonder if these are real people or is
someone is using a pseudonym to avoid taking personal responsibility for
what they talk about in the list.

I have been thinking why not ask some of these new new participants about
some personal details such as their TS branch affiliation, if any, where
they live, and names of other theosophists in their area they know and
other
information to confirm their real identity. Since the theosophical
community
is minuscule in the world, most theosophists tend to interact with others
over a period of time and is very difficult to keep a low profile and hide
their persona and hence discovering any masquerade is not difficult.

There are going to be exceptions. In rare cases, not towing the official
line may affect the room and board of the individual and no one wants to
affect the livelihood of a fellow theosophist and by the same token, these
individuals should not become unofficial strong proponents of the official
line under a disguise, no matter how unreasonable or untenable the official
line is.

I thought of throwing this open to feed back from others on the list.

another issue we may address in due course.
