I think the Mayans were much more intuitive and aligned than we as humanity 
 are. My only conclusion on cross referencing religious texts is that a 
great  flood washed away most of these civilisations but in this respect your 
guess  is as good as mine. I do however think they had either advanced 
technology or  were visited by either interplanetary beings or fallen angels. You 
can see  they had some advanced form of technology based on the stone 
carving from  Palenque. Regarding their calander/s i think they had some fom of 
insight into  the astrological processions and that in their opinion the age 
of pices comes  to and end in 2012. What that signifies for us i dont know 
but it will go one  of two ways. it will either manifest or fail to manifest. 
If it manifests then  great we move onto the next phase of spirituaal 
evoloution or into a new world  order in my opinion anything beats what we have 
going on at present. If it  fails to materialise i feel that because so
much attention has been heaped  onto this event it has now become the focus 
point of all conpsiracy theories.  It is the big date. they are even making 
a big budget hollowood style movie of  the end of the world called 2012 
which is due out in november this year  (Youtube if interested). I think when 
enough people get on the bandwagon and  the ball gathers moss and 2012 comes 
and goes and we are all still here the  validity of conspiracy theories will 
decrease rapidly. Either way like i said  before 2012 will hold its own 
significance.

I  think 2012 will hold its own significance, pophecy or no prophecy at 
worst it  will stop people believing the validity of conspiracy theories ;)
