Politics and power struggles are a waste of time. It just distracts from
more important things like spending one's time on self-cultivation and
working on projects to make the world a better place. That's why there are
many more theosophists outside the theosophical organizations than within
them. Anytime some students get together, it's a good thing, regardless of
if they're considered part of group chartered by the T.S., ULT, or other
theosophical group or not.

I'd consider the best position for any of us to be where we can put our
talents to their most creative use, which is not something quantitative.
Doing a kindness for a stranger can be as significant as writing an article
that's read by 10,000. It's always a matter of what qualities of our higher
natures come out to brighten the world, not the specific thing we do. So
it's an individual thing. (That means, of course, that for a few
individuals, diving into a political mess can be their thing to do, but
power tends to corrupt and it's best to avoid it when possible.)
