Years ago, I worked with a colleague, who was from India, but educated in
the US and later spent some years in Poland as a Visiting Professor. When I
saw some of the technical writing of the Polish counterparts, I commented
about how precise their selection of appropriate vocabulary and my colleague
commented that some times when English is a second language, your writing
tends to be better than a native born's writing. I once taught college level
courses and have seen extremely poor writing skills of many native students.
It is very interesting to observe these things. By the way, most politicians
in this country, have professional speech writers and politicians just read
them on a teleprompter. Ask them to deliver an impromptu speech, you will
see their real lecturing capability.
