He sent a copy to me personally - so yes, this is by John Algeo.

I'm glad he is willing to consider various options. However, I feel a

direct vote is still best, especially given the way the TS in the West

is functioning (in general: the Greece section seems to be an exception).

Did you all note that John seems unsure of the numbers here? Does over

half the membership of the TS live in India or doesn't it?

If John Algeo doesn't know that - who does? [this goes to transparency

as well, obviously]

I have just asked for a members meeting here in The Netherlands, but

if John's backing out, maybe that won't be necessary. The Dutch

section is small enough that one can be called in a month and people

from all over our country would be able to attend.

The transparency issue does still stand: why did we have to hear about

this proposal online in the first place? Why weren't the members in

general (not just a chosen few) consulted?

I was one of those to whom the questionnaire was sent. I obviously did

not feel the president should be elected by the general council.

I wonder: did only four of the gen. council members to whom the

questionnaire was sent agree that electing the president indirectly

was a good idea? I mean: the four people who signed the proposal?
