No, she didn't. She got that by simply signing the forms and vowing
something or other (probably allegiance to the US or something). It
wasn't as hard back then, because there weren't as many people
applying. and I don't think he had US citizenship.
The man just kept trying to get her to marry her, promised the
relationship would be platonic - and thinking herself a widow (she
wasn't) - she consented in the end. Partly for financial reasons,
partly for karmic ones - or so the mahatmas said. Karmically her first
marriage wasn't a clean record obviously (I mean she left the man so
soon after), so perhaps this was a way of atoning for that?
