In a published report, the TS membership in the US was 4,400 in 1960. In
2007, it is 4,072. After 47 years, with all the dynamic visionary leaders,
one would expect a significant growth in membership. However, there is a
loss of 10%. We have not seen anyone mentioning this fact.

This trend does not bode well for the TS in the USA. May be it is time that
we all need to look into the trend and explore to find out the underlying
causes that may be contributing to this downward trend. Since the growth of
membership has a lot to do with what the lodges and sections do, it is
definitely a local and national issue. May be it is time to concentrate to
find out and fix the root causes, ASAP.
